Printing is privileged to announce they have obtained
chain-of-custody certification from the Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC). Our company is the first in
the Hunter/Central Coast region to obtain Certification.
In fact only a handful of companies in NSW currently
hold Certification.
It is widely accepted that forest resources and
associated lands should be managed to meet the social,
economic, ecological, cultural and spiritual needs of
present and future generations. Furthermore, growing public
awareness of forest destruction and degradation has led
consumers to demand that there purchases of wood and paper
products will not contribute to this destruction but rather
might help secure forest resources for the future.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international,
non-profit organisation founded in 1993 to support
environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and
economically viable management of the world’s forests. These
FSC forests are responsibly managed according to fixed
standards. The goal is to improve forest conservation and
reduce deforestation. After (FSC) forests are harvested they
are replanted becoming a sustainable source for wood
production. Through the chain-of-custody review, the source
of a wood product is verified and tracked through the
various production processes to its final state. These
products are labeled with the FSC logo, ensuring the
consumer that the product they receive is credible and comes
from a well managed forest.
The (FSC) accreditation NCP Printing has obtained has
only been achieved after the company successfully underwent
a vigorous audit to ensure we complied with environmentally
sound practices. Our systems were found to be to a standard
that ensured we complied with all chain-of-custody
requirements. This chain-of-custody process requires
tracking the transfer of printing papers from their forest
of origin through the many stages of print production and
ultimately to the end user.

The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
PEFC is a global umbrella organisation for the assessment of and mutual recognition of national forest certification schemes developed in a multi-stakeholder process. These national schemes build upon the inter-governmental processes for the promotion of sustainable forest management, a series of on-going mechanisms supported by 149 governments in the world covering 85% of the world's forest area.
PEFC has in its membership 35 independent national forest certification systems of which 25 to date have been through a rigorous assessment process involving public consultation and the use of independent assessors to provide the assessments on which mutual recognition decisions are taken by the membership. These 25 systems account for more than 200 million hectares of certified forests producing millions of tonnes of certified timber to the market place making PEFC the world's largest certification system. The other national members schemes are at various stages of development and are working towards mutual recognition under the PEFC processes.
NCP Printing gained PEFC Certification in mid-2009 and can now offer our customers PEFC Certified printing products.
